IV Therapy for Cold & Flu

When you are sick, getting dressed and driving somewhere is the hard part. Ivology sends a licensed registered nurse to your home or hotel in Miami and Tampa with fluids and vitamins, so you can stay in bed.

To be clear about what this is: an IV does not cure a cold or the flu, and it does not replace antiviral medication or a doctor's visit. It helps with hydration and comfort while your body does the work.

When an IV may help

You are not drinking enough

Fever, a sore throat and no appetite make it easy to fall behind on fluids, which makes everything feel worse.

You feel wiped out

Aches, fatigue and a foggy head a day or two in, and you want supportive care without leaving the house.

You are on the mend

The worst has passed but you still feel depleted, and you would like help getting back to normal.

Drips people choose for this

Immune Boost IV

High-dose vitamin C, with zinc, B vitamins, magnesium and glutathione in IV fluids. The drip people most often choose when they are fighting something off.

Myers' Cocktail

Fluids with vitamin C, magnesium, calcium and B vitamins. A gentler all-round option when you mainly want hydration and broad support.

Vitamin IV Drip

A lighter blend of fluids, vitamin C, B vitamins and magnesium, for simple rehydration.

What the evidence does and does not say

Staying hydrated when you are ill is well established as helpful, and IV fluids are a reliable way to do that when drinking is difficult. The evidence for vitamin C and zinc is more modest. Studies suggest they may slightly shorten a cold for some people, and the effect is not dramatic.

So the fair way to describe an Immune Boost drip is supportive: it rehydrates you and supplies nutrients, and many clients say they feel better afterward. It is not a treatment for the virus itself, and it will not prevent you from catching one.

What happens during the visit

Your nurse checks your temperature, blood pressure, pulse and oxygen level, and asks about your symptoms, how long you have had them, and what you have taken. If your vital signs or symptoms suggest something more than an ordinary cold or flu, they will recommend that you see a doctor or go to urgent care.

If you are cleared, the drip takes 45 to 60 minutes and you can stay in bed.

Flu, COVID-19 and antivirals

If you think you have the flu or COVID-19 and you are older, pregnant, or have a chronic condition such as asthma, diabetes or heart disease, contact a doctor early. Prescription antivirals work best when started within the first couple of days, and that is a decision for a physician, not something an IV replaces.

When to get medical care instead

Call 911 or go to an emergency room, and do not book an IV, if you have:

Mobile IV therapy is an elective wellness service. It is not emergency care and does not diagnose or treat any medical condition.

Cold & Flu: Frequently Asked Questions

Will an IV cure my cold or flu?

No. Nothing in an IV kills the virus. It helps with hydration and supplies vitamins, which can make you feel better while you recover.

What is in the Immune Boost IV?

IV fluids, high-dose vitamin C, zinc, B-complex, vitamin B12, magnesium and glutathione. Amounts for each tier are listed on the Immune Boost IV page.

Can I book one to avoid getting sick before a trip?

You can, and many frequent travelers do, but no drip prevents illness. Sleep, hand washing and vaccination do more.

Is it safe for the nurse to visit while I am contagious?

Yes. Tell us your symptoms when you book so your nurse knows what to expect.

I have a fever. Can I still get an IV?

Usually, but your nurse will check your temperature and other vital signs first. A very high fever or other concerning signs mean you should be seen by a doctor instead.
